Acquisition Entrepreneur

My name is Jordan Novgrod and I started Sleepy Creek Capital as a vehicle to acquire a successful service business in the South Eastern United States.

My first successful acquisition occurred in July of 2022, where I acquired an engineering, miscellaneous metals fabricator, machine shop manufacturing business.

My plan is to leverage the knowledge I gain along the way with savings to continue acquiring additional businesses. The end goal is for me to run multiple businesses with a long term plan of leading them until I am ready to retire.

Background

I was born and spent most of my life in the Southeastern USA. My first job was at six years old, picking fruit and vegetables for a local farmer, and I got paid by the pound, which I was ecstatic about even though it was well below minimum wage. Then, at the age of ten, I started roofing with a family friend. I was paid by the square, so again well below minimum wage. All through high school, I worked home construction including plumbing, electric, septic, carpentry, etc. I worked through college in food service and retail while I obtained my degree to cover my living expenses.

I am an honest American looking to buy an American business. I have a couple of Electrical Engineering Degrees from NC State University, and 17 years of experience leading folks at the Johns Hopkins University Applied Physics Laboratory.

Lately I have been leading a dedicated team running the business I acquired, and learning all the ups and downs that come with small business ownership. Thanks to a great team,  grit on my part, and choosing to buy from an honest seller, we have been able to overcome all challenges that have been presented.

My Leadership Philosophy

I lead by example and have a willingness to learn from my crew. My marketing skills have enabled me to land multiple highly competitive Internal Research and Development Projects, as well as bring millions of dollars per year of additional business into The Johns Hopkins University Applied Physics Laboratory. I led teams of up to 60 staff. I have been successful primarily by motivating and inspiring my staff to do good work and supporting their growth. Another key to success was being honest with the results even when they were not what we wanted and figuring out how to improve the next time.

I am a persistent problem solver which will enable me to adapt as necessary to sustainably grow a business.
